Hippy Gourmet in the Lagoons of Venice Italy on the majestic sailing yacht Eolo

In this episode we are so blessed to have the opportunity to hitch a ride on the historically restored sailing/fishing vessel known as Eolo. Owner and Chef Mauro Stoppa gives us a lovely tour of the lagoon, setting sail and then bringing us down below where he whips up some incredible dishes! Mauro prepares Marinated Scampi! Then Mauro makes a Cuddle Fish with Shallots and Cherry Sauce. And finally a Risotto with Fresh Peas that is out of this world. That evening we dock at Locanda Alle Porte 1632, a family-owned and operated fully organic bed and breakfast! Later we venture off with Orindo as he gives us a tour of the family owned Organic Farm that provides all the produce for their restaurant and bed and breakfast! Continuing on the Eolo sailing yacht, we dock at the island of Lazzaretto Nuovo, the island known as they gateway, or entrance of the Venetian lagoon. Dr. Gerolamo Fazzini, gives us a fantastic glimpse back in time to the early beginnings of Venice itself. Finally, Eolo winds its way toward the Island of Torcello where we are invited into Locanda Cipriani for a fabulous luncheon! Hosted by Bonifacio Brass, Locanda Cipriani is known for being the place that actually invented Carpaccio! Locanda Cipriani is also known for hosting Ernest Hemmingway! Surrounded by lush gardens and an ancient monastery, the combination of gourmet dining and historic vistas makes this place a must visit!

The Mary Frances Cookbook 1912 Reprint Adventures among the kitchen people

This Vintage Cookbook is one most loved by people who owned a copy in their childhood. Charming illustrations, a lovely story line and good, workable recipes.
It has hidden messages telling little girls that they must be obedient, kind, courteous, have good manners, take responsibility, obey parents, serve the males in the household and other quaint Victorian ideas.
The mother has become ill, but fortunately she had fulfilled one of her motherly duties by writing cooking instructions for her daughter to use, should the need arise. When the mother is taken away to recuperate, Mary Frances tries to use the book her mother had written with such foresight. But the little girl is quite unsure of herself and still needs help. Thus she is delighted to find that the cooking utensils begin to talk. She becomes a success in the kitchen and prepares a homecoming dinner for her mother’s return.

Washington Womens Cookbook 1909 Reprint

Washington Womens Cookbook 1909 Reprint

This Vintage Cookbook is a reprint of the 1909 edition. A fine example of a charity cookbook. It represents the growth of the women’s movement, in general, and the suffrage effort, in particular. From the dedication (”To the first woman who realized that half of the human race were not getting a square deal…”) to the pithy pro-suffrage quotations at the beginning of each chapter to the articles on the role and formation of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Progress of Woman’s Suffrage - this book is a milestone for tracing the involvement of women in the greater world. But, it is also a splendid cookbook. The recipes are all attributed. There are chapters on Sailor’s Recipes, Vegetarian Foods, German Recipes and a Mountaineer’s Chapter.
